At The Recital

Oh we just love Landon!

Well for the last three weeks I taught all together 8 children to play fiddle music and just have a fun time playing their stringed instruments. It was with the help an encouragement of my daughter Leslie that I took on this project. I taught them some technique and theory. I helped them play better in tune and helped them with their bowing. We played some musical games, but mostly we played lots of music, both serious and fun fiddle tunes and had lots of fun doing it.
There was Landon Smith on Cello and Layna Smith on Violin. There was Rylie Van Siver on Violin who is the Smith's Cousin. Kaithlyn Hooper on Violin and Connor on the Cello. There was Jolie Smithson who is Kate's best friend. Then I had two girls from the ward, Samantha Schuelke on violin and Makenna Turley on Viola. McKenna left before we were done but she was heading down to Nashville, Tennessee ... fiddle tune haven!

We played Simple Gifts, Ode to Joy as some classical type of music and then I Am a Child of God and the fiddle tunes, Boil Them Cabbage Down, Mama Don't Allow, Rocky Top, Old Joe Clark and Cripple Creek.

If we do this next year I can make "them tunes harder."

I sure had a lot of fun teaching them!What a Totally Fun time we all had! Well at least I know I DID!

My Dad never complained about the hardships, he was an example of faith in God and doing the best in all one does. So I am a bit sentimental today or is that mental?
Well anyway, I love my DAD and miss him lots! as well as MOM too!

Aren't these the best looking students!
They play good too!.... Here are three students that are all striving for high goals. Each wants to be in the medical field. They all play sports and are high achievers and all are A students and very high in academics! Yes, all will be great contributors to their fellow people.

Summer Here I Come

HAPPY IT IS SUMMER!!!!!

Well School was officially out Friday May 28th and I was worn out cleaning "two" music rooms.
The last two days at school I didn't officially have students so it felt like Summer already on
Thursday. It is getting rather warm!

Thursday evening I went out to eat with a dear friend and had a wonderful visit. We talked about family and ourselves and our plans. We are both single and have quite a few things in common but one of the sweetest things is that we have the same standards and we have some of the same struggles so we can lift each other up spiritually and see another perspective.Saturday watched a young lady try to sell me some cookware but way out of my expense budget, but she did inspire me to cook a bit different. Here we come veggies and fruit.
During the demonstration I got a phone call from my friend that I had dinner with on Thursday who said she was in the hospital and if I would call to get her Primary class a substitute which I was more than happy to do. And so I did.

OK, NO Comment, funny, dry, swollen, chubby looking toes! Huh!
Almost lost the toenail on my 2nd toe last fall. It grew back kind of small, but read on...

Stubbed my little toe Saturday night and it turned a variety of purple shades. Every day the purple changes and relocates ... kind of crazy how that works...

Stayed home Sunday after church (didn't go to Leslie's) just to rest from a long year of school and made dinner, but by 2:30 AM Monday I felt like a truck hit my stomach.... The rest of the night I was sitting, bowing and kneeling to the white porcelain god... yuck...

So Memorial day Monday was a complete wash.... I lost a whole day! My friend came home from the hospital but we haven't talked yet.

Tuesday I was to report for jury duty but my group got released... Thank you, thank you! I guess lawyers were recovering from the weekend. I still feel weird and my rib cage hurts so bad!

Here's a picture of a new cane Kirk gave me for Mother's day...that is to protect myself. It is really sharp!
So it is now Tuesday I cannot believe it is already the next day...
The only thing that has kept me knowing what day it was is that I kept up with facebook and emails...

SO NOW I NEED TO START AGAIN!

We'll have a violin recital on Sunday at 6:30 PM with my 3 students so I need to get things organized. It will be my Dad's birthday anniversary day what a good way to honor him!

I better let Jon borrow my violin so that he can play at the recital! LOL!

What a crazy entry but this is going to be a crazy but hopefully a fun Summer!

for the past two weeks I have had continual pain not just in one leg but both legs because of some crazy injury and the constant swelling. Priesthood Blessings and caring from many sources have made this more bearable.

It was quite the busy eventful day.
I had to rearrange my schedule at SSE so that I could be at the BUGZ Musical at Augusta Ranch with the 2, 1st grade classes I teach there. My two classes were more well behaved than the other classes at that school. Even at the assembly today it was noisy and it seemed nobody did anything to stop the talking both in the audience and on the risers.

well...... after the 6:30 concert I realized I had a voice mail that I needed to listen to from Michelle because Jon had texted me to check my voice mail. It turns out Michelle was picking up Jon after his first day back after having knee surgery. Jon had put the violin down by the car. Michelle thought Jon had the violin and Jon thought Michelle had put it in the car. Well, to make a long story short, the violin got ran over by the Suburban. Michelle called and left a rather sad message on my cell phone but I did not get it until 7:30, but I felt so bad for Michelle and that she was so upset. I was glad it wasn't a kid that got hurt and at first that is what I thought.
I broke the violin worse years ago, so I think it can be fixed and I hope so in a timely manner... I will make phone calls tomorrow.

This violin has character!!!!!
Cheer up every one, life is too short.
Gees it still is a good looking violin!
